About Me

About me…I’m an artist and graphic designer and first started the low carb lifestyle in 2001.  I have not yet achieved my goal, but I’m still trying.  I live in Tennessee with My Handyman of 23 years and two beautiful daughters, A & B.

My interests include playing the piano, singing, graphic design, painting, reading, baking, lowcarbing, St Louis Cardinal baseball, camping, and spending time with my family.

I named my blog after a Yahoo group I created years ago before they were called groups.  To me the heart of a country home is the kitchen.  That’s why you see a lot of recipes on my blog.

Thanks for visiting and if you have time, look around and leave a comment.

  3. Thanks for “liking” my post, Mini Pumpkin Pie Croissants. I have a sister recipe called “Pumpkin Butterscotch Croissants with Pecans and Coconut” that is similar but with more goodies in it. They are both delicious and pretty easy to make. I hope you try them sometime. Please let me know how they turn out.

  4. Thanks Jillian, best of luck to you also. Gwen

  5. Hello Jillian, I am Gwen from Alabama and I love your blog. The food looks great. I have my own blog and its not doing well so if you can give me some tips on how you are doing it. My blog is on southern cooking and and living in the south. I hope to hear from you. mybestcookbook.info and gwen.1460@gmail.com. You have a really good site. Thanks Gwen

    • Hi, Gwen! Thanks for stopping by. I might not be the one to ask for tips on blogging since I haven’t been a faithful blogger lately. Life has just gotten so busy, I haven’t been able to post much. I still try to take pictures of recipes I’ve tried, so hopefully I can get those posted soon.

I do share some of my recipes on Pinterest. I think that keeps some people coming by. I have not set up a Facebook page, but I know of others who have and that really builds a blog fast. I’ll do my best to stop by your place. Good luck! 🙂

  6. Cheers mate, bom post!

very nice post, I certainly love this website, keep up the good work.

  8. I absolutely LOVE your blog site. This is awesome! I love to cook and my hubbie and myself have started low carbing 4 weeks ago. I was looking up a recipe and came across your site. I am saving it and am going to make some of the recipes – maybe will get to all the low carbs ones eventually.
Just wanted to say hello and the site is terrific. Not just for the recipes, but how nice and appealing it is. It is organized and the pictures are great! You really have it going on with the artistic flair. I am creative myself, and I seem to be a little judgemental when it comes to things like that. We seem to have very similar taste in foods and kitchen styles that we fancy, ect. I am so glad I found Heart of a Country Home. I am from Louisiana and we like to eat and cook. If there is anything you would like to know about some more “traditional”, hand me down recipes from old maw maw, please ask. I have some great ones that we normally eat around the Holidays. Not really low carb, but I will need to figure that part out. Maybe that is something you may be interested in trying to do and sharing.
I have had those Cream cheese and bacon poppers you posted and that is a great low carb item! I tried them long ago, but it had with crushed pineapple mixed in the cream cheese – those types are good for those not on low carb. Will make them the way you suggested and will let you know how they turn out.
Thanks again for a great site and sharing your creative ideas and cooking!
    Michelle

    • Michelle, thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment. Do you have a blog of your own? I’d love to visit. I’ll be posting more low carb recipes and hope you come back soon! 🙂 Jillian

  9. Jillian you’re a graphic designer? Thats something like what my daughter Caitlin wants to be! 🙂

    • I design mainly for tshirts and textile printing. Web design would probably pay more! 😀 My daughter is 14 and is already pretty good at using my software for designing. She has the eye and is very artistic. Good luck to your daughter in persuing her dreams!

  10. I’m sorry I couldn’t find where to email you privately but I wanted to let you know how much it means to me that reading my cancer story was near to your heart. You leaving a comment and letting me know that you will be following my story means a LOT to me.

I started writing with some difficulty but had hoped I would help just one person. Knowing that it touched you in some way is helping me a great deal.

With each new follower and each new comment it makes my heart sing….. it makes me feel like I made the right choice to share my journey.

I just wanted to say thank you and make sure you knew how much it means that you are reading and you care.

I hope you have a great weekend!
