Spring 2015 ~ Randomness

Some peeks into my Spring.


The hostas I planted in 2013 and forgot about came up again.   Love me some hostas because they’re so easy to grow.



Eating supper on the front porch can be so relaxing after spending the day inside.



My oldest daughter has fallen in love with gardening.  She has planted so many beautiful flowers this Spring.  Now I need to get her interested in veggies. 🙂



After an extensive search, I was so excited to find this cute owl mug for only .25 at the thrift store!



I love it when my hubby cranks up the grill.  I know some yummy food is on the way.  He prepared enough for us to eat on through the week and when the grilled veggies were gone, I pan roasted these in the oven.  Real food and good eatin’!



After my last post on that beautiful Spring day,  I found out my oldest brother had died suddenly.  He left a void in the lives of his daughters, grandchildren, siblings, and father.  I think of him often and miss him daily.  Some of my family made the trip to Reelfoot Lake in his memory.

BBQ Rub and Barbequed Boston Butt!

I rubbed it some of my favorite *seasonings and then wrapped it in aluminum

foil and put it on a hot grill for 4 hours.  The temp in the grill stayed 275-375 for

most of the time and the meat fell off the bone!

Pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and hot sauce.

This is a good basic BBQ Rub. It works well on any food for smoking or grilling.

½ cup salt
¼ cup granulated brown sugar
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
2 tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoon chili powder
2 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
2 teaspoons cayenne
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground turmeric

Combine all ingredients, mix well, and store in an airtight container.

Yields about 1 cup.

Induction ~ Days 13 and 14

Once again I’ve found myself super busy. It’s rush season in the screen printing business, so that means it’s harder to post.  It’s even harder to take a decent lunch hour! lol

Anyway, maybe I’m being too impatient.  Common sense told me I probably wouldn’t lose more than my first Induction 10 years ago, when I lost 7 lbs.

Maybe I should be happy that I’ve lost 6.5, but it is a little disappointing after all my effort.  I’d love to lose 10-15 lbs in 4 weeks.  Hopefully that will be doable.

Here’s my Sunday dinner and dessert.  Both are supposed to be Induction Friendly.  The cake is something I won’t have often.  I wasn’t overly impressed with it and think I prefer my *Baked Fudge.

Induction – Day 8

Induction Week 2 has arrived!

So far I’m down 5.5 lbs.

I am anxious to see how I will do this week. We’ll see.

This is not what I had for lunch, but what I want for supper, real soon!

Tidbits from Thursday

What a busy day!  The weather is beautiful after being warned earlier in the week that we would have severe weather.  The sun is shining brightly, the sky is bright blue and the humidity is down.  It’s a good day to grill out for supper.  I plan on stopping by the vegetable stand on the way home and picking up some farm-fresh veggies to put on grill beside whatever meat I can find at the grocery on way home.  I’m thinking some nice yellow or zucchini squash, sliced lengthwise, drizzled with melted butter and sprinkled with sea salt and fresh ground black pepper would be tasting real good tonight!  🙂

We’re going to pop up the camper today and air it out in anticipation of camping this weekend.  Hopefully we can and the weather will cooperate.  The girls are looking forward to it.  It will be our first time camping this year and usually we’ve already gone a few times. 

The Cardinals play the Astros tonight so I get to listen to an exciting baseball game while preparing supper.  Go Cards!!!
